Manual editions & state adoption
Which manual your state's exam is written to matters. Here's what we track.

The national core manual
The Pesticide Educational Resources Collaborative (PERC) published a 3rd edition of the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Manual in 2025. The national manual is copyrighted, so we never reproduce it — but we track which states adopt it and when, because that determines what your exam covers.
Texas
Texas writes its General Standards exam to its own Texas A&M AgriLife (PSEP) study manuals — the General manual (AES-5073) and Laws & Regulations (AES-5056) — rather than the PERC national core manual. Based on current official Texas Department of Agriculture and AgriLife sources, Texas has not adoptedthe PERC 3rd edition. We'll update this page if that changes.
